When God Pours Out His Spirit . . .

  • When God chooses to pour out His Spirit, it is not on our timetable.

“And suddenly . . .” Acts 2:2

  • When God chooses to pour out His Spirit, He does so in a way that is clearly undeniable.

“ . . . there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting.  And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.”  Acts 2:2-4

  • When God chooses to pour out His Spirit, it is always to advance the gospel.

“we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” Acts 2:11

  • When God chooses to pour out His Spirit, people will be astounded with wonder.

“And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.  And they were amazed and astonished . . .”  Acts 2:6-7

  • Some will be captivated. (v.12)
  • Some will be critical. (v.13)

Our Response . . .

  • Cry out for an outpouring of the Spirit’s manifest

  • Do not quench the Spirit.
    • Let God examine your heart.
      • Is God here?
      • Is there something I need to confess/repent of?
      • Is there forgiveness I need to seek?
      • Am I unwilling to let God tear down the idols in my heart?
