1 John 3:1-24
God’s Indescribable Love . . .
· To reject Christ is to not know the indescribable love of God.
· To know Christ is to be loved by God with an inexplicable love. (v.1)
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us . . .” (ESV)
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us . . .” (NIV)
· To be loved by God as His child gives us an unwavering and confident hope. (v.3)
As Children of God . . .
1. You pursue holiness. (v. 3)
As true followers of Christ, our pursuit is righteousness and the direction of our life is toward holiness. (1 Peter 1:16; Romans 8:5-11)
2. You don’t practice sinning. (vv.4-9)You don’t practice sinning because . . .
· As true believers, we are not indifferent to the truth of God’s Word. (v.4)
· As true believers, sin does not reign in us. (Romans 6:12)
· As true followers of Christ, the life of God abides in us. (v.9)
3. You love one another. (vv.10b-18)
· We are able to love others because God loved us first. (1 John 5:7, 11)
· We show people evidence of God when we love others. (1 John 4:12)
4. You are sealed by His Spirit. (v.24)
