“This Is My Story – Part II”

Acts 8:26-40

  • Philip was in a position where he was able to hear God speak.

“And an angel of the Lord said to Philip . . .” (v.26)

“And the Spirit said to Philip . . .” (v.29)

Implication:  I need to position myself so I can hear God speak clearly.

  • Philip surrendered in obedience to the leading of God’s Spirit.

“Rise and go toward the south, to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.  This is a desert place.  And he rose and went.”  (v.26-27)

“And the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go over and join this chariot.’  So Philip ran to him . . .” (v.29-30)

Implication:  I need to be willing to follow the Spirit’s leading.

  • Philip encountered a man who was seeking to know God.

“And there was an Ethiopian . . .” (v.27)

  • God will always lead you where He is already at work.

Implication:  There is always someone I can share my story with.

  • Philip was eager to share the story of the gospel.

“Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus.”  (v.35)

Implication:  I need to unashamedly tell the story.

Getting Personal . . .

  1. Are you placing yourself in a position to hear from God?
  2. Are you surrendering in obedience to the leading of God’s Spirit?
    • Are you willing to go where the Spirit is leading you to go?
    • Are you willing to do what the Spirit is leading you to do?
  3. Are you unashamedly sharing your story with those God brings into your path?
