Treasuring Christ:  Reality Check

1 Chronicles 29:10-18

Four Reality Checks . . .

1.    Everything is God’s, and nothing is mine.(1 Chron. 29:10-12)

·         In effect, “yours” or “you” are used 12 times in reference to God.

o   Yours is the greatness.

o   Yours is the power.

o   Yours is the glory.

o   Yours is the victory.

o   Yours is the majesty.

o   Yours is all that is in the heavens and in the earth.

o   Yours is the kingdom.

o   You are exalted as head above all.

o   You give riches and honor

o   You rule over all.

o   You possess all power and might.

o   You have the power to make great and give strength to all.

2.    I have nothing to offer God that He has not given to me. (1 Chron. 29:16)

There is nothing that you or I will give to God where His response will be, “Where did you get that?!?”

But He will remind you with a thought-provoking question, Where did you get that?”

o   My talent is from God.

o   My possessions are from God.

o   My time is from God.

o   My wisdom is from God.

o   My influence is from God.

o   My money is from God.

Because Iam a steward of all that He has given to me, I should constantly ask, “What do I do with all you have entrusted to me?”

3.    All that I have, and what I do with it, will reveal the true condition of my heart.(1 Chron. 29:17)

“For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:21

4.    God blesses those who hold His treasures with open hands and display a heart of joyful giving.(1 Chron. 29:17-18)

So, how do I respond?

1.    Keep before you the truth that God owns everything and we are just stewards who are to leverage what He gives us for His purposes. Pray that God will constantly direct your heart towards Him.
