Acts:  Your Mission Journey

Acts 13-15:35

ON MISSION . . .

  • We have been set apart by the Spirit of God to make much of the gospel.

“you will be My witnesses.”  Acts 1:8

  • Some are called vocationally.

“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’”  Acts 13:2

  • All are called relationally.

  • We are sent out by His Spirit to engage those in need of the gospel.
    • The gospel of Christ is for all people.

“If then God gave the same gift (the Holy Spirit) to them as He gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”  Acts 11:17

  • There will always be opposition to the activity of the Spirit.

“But Elymas the magician opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.” Acts 13:8

“But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him.” Acts 13:45

“But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.”  Acts 14:2

  • We are to proclaim the gospel by the power of His Spirit.

“ . . . they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews.” Acts 13:5

“And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region.”  Acts 13:49

“ . . . and there they continued to preach the gospel.”  Acts 14:7

“When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples . . .”  Acts 14:21

  • The gospel is one of grace received by faith in Christ alone.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9
