“Not Home Yet: Living Hope”
1 Peter 1:3-12
Biblical Truths that Should Shape Our Present Reality . . .
- I am chosen by God.
- By the sovereign grace and mercy of God I have been
chosen by God to be one who is
set apart by His
Spirit, to live in
obedience to Christ displaying a life
that has been rescued by God’s great
salvation.
- God initiates a relationship because of His mercy. (v. 3)

- I have been born again to a living hope.
- I have a living hope because I have fully surrendered myself to a risen Savior who has overcome my greatest enemies, sin and death.
- I have a living hope because Christ, who is alive, lives in

- I have an inheritance that is out of this
world.

- Imperishable—will not decay or become corrupt (Matthew 6:19-21)
- Undefiled—pure and cannot be tainted or flawed
- Unfading—enduring and lasting
- Secured—certain; reserved; guaranteed (Ephesians 1:13-14)
- I am guarded by God until the day of Christ.
- My hope doesn’t rest in my strength to guard my faith, but in knowing that I am guarded by the sovereign grace of a merciful faithful
