As a follower of Christ, if I am more concerned about the grades my child makes more than I am concerned about their spiritual condition then I have bought into culture’s definition of success.
Deuteronomy 6:1-9
The Priority of Parenting . . .
As a parent, I am the primary nurturer and disiciple-maker of my children.
· No one else is charged with as great a calling or responsibility when it comes to my children. (Ephesians 6:4)
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4
o How am I doing? What would be the grade on my report card or progress report?
The crux of the matter . . .
I cannot lead my child where I am not going.
· I’m going somewhere, but am I pursuing Christ?
· My children will followwho or what I follow.
As pastor and leadership, we are called to equip you for the work of ministry.
· The greatest ministry I have, as a parent, is to my children.
· As a parent, it is imperative that I do whatever I must to be properly equipped.
