One of the strongest motivators for believers should be our desire to please God. In this message Pastor Phil will show us how the Thessalonians strived to please God in every facet of their lives.

Our main scripture verses are - 1 Thessalonians, Chapter 4, Verses 1-12

1) The Disciple's Ambition - Every follower of Jesus Christ true ambition is to please God. (Colossians - Chapter 1 - Verses 9 - 10) (Hebrews - Chapter 13 - Verses 15 - 16)

How do we please God? The verses above in Colossians tell us that God is pleased when we (1) walk the walk and (2) when we grow in our walk.

When the Bible talks about "salvation," it's really talking about a three-dimensional process: (1) when we are "saved", (2) when we are "being saved" by becoming more like Jesus here on this earth, and (3) when "we will be saved" in the future. These three dimensions are traditionally known as justification, sanctification, and glorification.

2) The Disciple's Compassion

As we grow in our knowledge and love for Jesus, a natural progression of this journey is that we will love one another within the body of Christ and look for ways to serve one another. (John - Chapter 13 - Verses 34 -35) and (1 Peter Chapter 1 - Verse 22)
