A      On this Memorial Day Weekend, we gather to think about something very simple yet very profound. Today, we want everyone to consider this truth: “Freedom Isn’t Free.” This is something we emphasize every year, and this year is no different. It’s a timeless truth. Freedom always comes with a price.

B    John 12:24 – “Jesus said, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.’”

C    Here’s an ironic paradox about death: “Death, as terrible as it is, in some cases, brings life.” In other words, the death of one thing sometimes brings life to another.”

Every Memorial Day weekend at Crossgate Church, we take time to remind ourselves that “Freedom isn’t free,” and we do that along two lines.

·    First, we remind ourselves that “national freedom isn’t free.” Our national freedom has been bought and paid for by the blood of patriots and heroes.

·    Second, we remind ourselves that “spiritual freedom isn’t free.” Our spiritual freedom has been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ and his death on the cross.
