The Gift - Compassion
Micah 7:18-20
When I am for God’s glory and the Gospel compassion is my response to a world in need.
Jesus As Our Example . . .
“When He (Jesus) went ashore He saw a great crowd, and He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And He began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34
“When He went ashore He saw a great crowd, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick.” Matthew 14:14
“And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’” Luke 7:13
Luke 10:25-37
Truth Statement:
Compassion becomes the overflowing activity of a heart that is moved as a result of living with eyes wide open to the great need of people and the hope of the gospel.
· Compassion is stirred when the activity of God is at work in the life of a Christ-follower.
· Compassion cannot be suppressed within a person who lives with eyes wide open and sees the great need of people.
· Compassion is most compassionate when what we do seeks to change someone’s eternal destiny not just the moment.
