Isaiah 26:3; Philippians 4:6-7

Peace with God . . .

  • You can have peace with God only by being reconciled to Him through Christ.

“ . . . and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased.”  Luke 2:14

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him (God) . . .”  Hebrews 11:6

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Romans 5:1

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”  Romans 15:13

“All this is from God who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”  2 Corinthians 5:18-19

“For in Him (Jesus) all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of the cross.”  Colossians 1:19-20

“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”  St. Augustine

“God can work peace through us only if He has worked peace in us.  Those who are in the best of circumstances but without God can never find peace, but those in the worst of circumstances but with God need never lack peace.”  John MacArthur

  • The peace of God is not alive in a heart that is dead to God.

“There is no peace,” says the Lord God, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 48:22

  • The peace of God does not rest where sin reigns. (Psalm 32:1-5)

Peace of Mind . . .

  • You can have peace of mind by resting in the peace of God.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3;

  • The peace of God is found in the presence of God.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

Peace with Others . . .

  • You can pursue peace with others when the peace of Christ rules in your heart.

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.”  Colossians 3:15

“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”  Romans 12:18

“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice.  Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”  2 Cor. 13:11

“Strive for peace with everyone . . .” Hebrews 12:14

“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”  James 3:18
