Pastor Shawn teaches on the feeding of the five thousand in Mark 6:30 – 44. Jesus is our provision and as Fathers we must recognize and depend upon this crucial truth. Jesus was moved with compassion at the sight of thousands of people who had made a great effort to hear His message of hope. And although Jesus is tired, and emotionally tired as well (remember He and his disciples had just learned of the beheading of John the Baptist.) His primary concern was the welfare of those people around Him.
The disciples had a responsibility to give to the people what Christ had given them. When God gives to us, we are to share faithfully with others, not hoard His gifts for ourselves. Fathers we can only love our children properly when we are loving Jesus Christ on a daily basis. Are our children seeing Jesus lead us in the way we love our spouse? Are they seeing Jesus provide for our physical needs? Are they seeing Jesus provide for our spiritual needs? How we treat our enemies?
Are our children seeing us guard our heart well?
Are our children seeing us guard our eyes well?
Are our children seeing us guard our words well?
Are our children seeing us guard our actions well?
Jesus is the source of all of our provision and He is willing and able to help us be better Fathers to our children. To teach them from your table the truths of God and the Grace of His Love.
